Digital freedom and rights (DFR Foundation) is an international nonprofit protecting democracy’s digital frontiers. We empower activists and citizens to resist digital repression, treating digital security as a fundamental human right rather than just a technical necessity.

The Four Pillars of Action
DFR Foundation builds resilience through four key strategies. First, we focus on Documentation by exposing digital rights violations for global accountability. Second, we provide Support through rapid technical aid to those targeted by state repression. Third, our Standardization efforts establish security best practices for high-risk environments. Finally, our Development team creates ethical, open-source tools to support social democracy.
